Every year, the Villèle Historical Museum takes part in major European, national and regional cultural events, bringing a touch of the Indian Ocean to the European cultural edifice of which it is a part.

The Departmental Council of Reunion, an important actor on the island’s cultural scene, is a partner of various artists and associations through direct and indirect support given throughout a range of cultural fields.
As part of its 2021-2027 term project, the Department is continuing with an original scheme to support artistic creation and promote heritage created in 2017: the "Heritage and Creation" Residencies.
