Le cercle des muséophiles de Villèle (The Villèle museum-lovers group)

Set up in 1995 by Alexis Miranville, a history teacher working in close collaboration with the Villèle  museum, the Cercle des Muséophiles Villèle is an association coming under the French law on associations, passed in 1901.

The association groups together friends sharing the same passion who, by working on a daily basis, build up links between the Villèle museum, a former colonial estate dating back to the 18th century,  and its immediate environment, aimed at a serene study of its history and a re-appropriation of the site.

Each year, the Cercle des Muséophiles Villèle organises musical performances inside the magnificent Chapelle Pointue chapel, free of charge and open to all during the ‘Musicales Villèle’, performances put on in the gardens of the museum, as well as ‘Creole storytelling’ evenings, workshops for the younger members of the public and a range of other cultural activities, thus contributing to the educational vocation of the Villèle museum.
